Sixteen Years Later, I'm Writing Again
Sixteen years is a long time to be quiet. When I last wrote here, my children were still children — school uniforms drying on the line, homework spread across the dining table, someone always needing something from me before I could finish a sentence.
Finally, it’s over!

Post-lenten thoughts
During the Lenten celebration this past week, I noticed that many of our neighbors were noisy. They shout when they wanted to, sang with their karaoke, listened to loud music even on Good Friday.
Modern toys for modern boys
When I was a child, my parents do not spend too much (or nothing at all) for my toys. I remember spending most of my free time in our backyard playing with kids my age.
Project: Making the vine climb the trellis
The arbor is made of metal. This used to be covered with net housing the orchids underneath thus giving them shade and protecting them from the sun’s heat.
An issue on sexual harassment

Setting Priorities

It’s Medicine again
When I started teaching in the College of Medicine (that was ten years ago), there were around 80 students (foreign and local) in the first year.
Speed stacks, computer games, and savings
Days before school started, I already told my kids that computer games will no longer be allowed once school start, and that they can only play such during weekends.
Santi: now at three months
Santi has been with us for more than a month now. He was given to us quite too early at 1 1/2 month old.
Coercing a child
I am now in the process of preparing everything my kids will be needing for the incoming school year. And while sewing ripped areas of their old uniforms and putting school patches on new ones, I keep on remembering a mother with two kids in the elementary grade.
Enjoying the summer rain
For several years now, summer vacation in my family was spent mostly either swimming in the beach or in a resort pool.
Our unattended garden
There is a garden in our backyard where my mom used to frequent. She would spend hours in the place tending to her precious orchids, ferns, and other kinds of plants during weekends, while working as a nurse in the Rural Health Unit in our town on weekdays.
Field Trip 2009
In my kids’ school, field trip is being held every two years. This arrangement makes the kids to look forward to it with more eagerness.
Should we force the kids to love books?
I was in National Bookstore one day trying to find a good book for a seven-year-old birthday boy when I overheard a mother arguing with her two sons, a teenager and a tween.
Celebrating 13 happy years
Thirteen happy years of married life. Of being together. Not a few friends and close relatives had asked why we are still here in the Philippines when lots of our counterparts have found life in different places abroad.
From paper guns to bakugans
