Celebrating 13 happy years

Thirteen happy years of married life. Of being together. Not a few friends and close relatives had asked why we are still here in the Philippines when lots of our counterparts have found life in different places abroad. Some chose to part with their wives or husbands for a while in order to have a better future.

I just smile when asked if I am really serious in not taking the Nursing course as a stepping stone to be able to work abroad. Actually, I did not entertain the thought at all. In my mind, I’d rather work long hours everyday and burn my candles than to work miles away from my family.

It is the closeness that we had built, the strength we get from each other, the lessons we learned and continue to learn from each other, the respect we give each other no matter how different we are from one another - these are the ones that kept us going. Our motto: together we stand, divided we fall.

We started with a promise to help each other raise our family. Life was very simple then. We just worked, worked, and worked trying to be ready when kids start coming. And when they did came, we were more than ready. Blessings from above just came at the time of need. Our faith has never failed us.

Now on our 13th year, our relationship is brought to a different level. Of course, love is still in the air, but it has grown deeper. And with the whole family spending valuable time together, we have much to be thankful for.
