Medicine Night 2008

The annual celebration of the Medicine Night in LNU College of Medicine came early this year. The second year students, being the hosts, decided to hold it earlier than usual (December or January in past years), as they were anticipating the exams that would be coming before the Christmas break, leaving them no time to prepare for the occasion.

This year’s Medicine Night was held in Gerry’s Grill, Calasiao, Pangasinan. The Thai medical students came in their national costume. They really look splendid that night. They even prepared special numbers, one is a national dance. Though it would have been better if the audience, composed of faculty members and Filipino medical students, understood the lyrics of the song they were dancing. But the number was worth remembering still.

Of course the locals could not be far behind. They also did their best especially during the dance presentations of each level (first years up to third years). They danced so gracefully one will think they are professional dancers. And with sexy costumes, they all look like beauty queens.

One number that really caught my attention was the song number given by the second-year class president, Beth Mula. The delivery was perfect. I fell in love with her voice.

The highlight of the occasion, the quest for Mr. and Ms. Medicine 2008, was done in a very orderly manner. The elimination round done before dinner was a good example of time management. It also gave ample time for the finalists to redo themselves before facing again the audience. The winners were rightfully picked.

Overall, the occasion was a success. I commend the second-years under the leadership of Beth, who devoted extra time for the preparation. Congratulations!
